Three Martyr in clashes in eastern Turkey

Two soldiers and one village guard were Martyr today in clashes with suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the eastern province of Bingöl, according to reports.

Seven soldiers were wounded.

Security forces intercepted PKK members on a morning patrol and called on the militants to surrender.

The PKK members then reportedly opened fire on security forces, wounding three soldiers. Helicopters were immediately dispatched toward the conflict.

Clashes are continuing in the area.

Earlier today a bomb exploded on the highway between the southeastern provinces of Mardin and Diyarbakır, leaving an unidentified number of soldiers in critical condition. (hurriyetdailynews)
