A Turkish colonel stationed at EDOK, a key military educational and doctrinal unit, was found dead in his car in the Marmara province of Kocaeli today.
The body of Col. İsmail Çetiner, a communications officer at the EDOK Kocaeli command, was found by locals in a wooded area on Salim Dervişoğlu avenue.
Police arrived at the scene and found Çetiner with a gunshot wound on his right temple and a pistol in his right hand. Officers notified military authorities and cordoned off the area to search for evidence.
The police reported that preliminary findings pointed at suicide. (Hürriyet)
