A flag relating to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) which was placed near the Turkish and Syrian border has been removed, Anatolia news agency reported.

The flag was first believed to be representational of the PKK, but was later discovered to be that of a PKK sub-organization. The flag stood approximately one kilometer into Syrian soil but was clearly visible from Turkish border towns.

The flag was located along the escape route reportedly used by two militants after they launched an attack against a police department last month in Kayseri. (ŞANLIURFA - Doğan News Agency)
