Former minister Kürşad Tüzmen was attacked by the son of Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Aydın Ayaydın in Ankara yesterday.

Tüzmen and Ayaydın have an ongoing quarrel over a book written by the CHP deputy, which allegedly cost Tüzmen his ministerial position.

Tüzmen and Ayaydın's son, Gökhan Ayaydın, confronted each other at a wedding ceremony of a common aquaintance at Ankara's Sheraton hotel, where Gökhan Ayaydın allegedly knocked Tüzmen over by hitting him with his head.

Tüzmen confirmed the allegations in an interview with hurriyet.com.tr, saying he had been "ambushed." "Two people grabbed me from behind with no warning as I was walking up a flight of stairs. Then [Gökhan Ayaydın] headbutted me. I fell on the floor and they ran away," Tüzmen said.

The former minister added that the assailant's father Aydın Ayaydın was waiting in a car outside, which the attackers used to get away from the scene.

"They should have called me outside if they have a problem with me," Tüzmen went on. "The wedding was ruined because of this incident."

Tüzmen said he had yet to decide whether to file a complaint about the attack, while reporters were unable to reach Aydın Ayaydın for his comments. (Hürriyet)
