Children moved to tears of joy by Atatürk look-a-like

Written By THA on Tuesday, 17 April 2012 | 19:52

An Atatürk look-a-like visited a series of elementary schools in the İzmit district of Kocaeli, leading students to shed tears of joy, Doğan news agency reported.

Many of the students who came face to face with Göksel Kaya, dressed as modern Turkey’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, went into a frenzy of joy and confusion. Some cried, embracing him in tears while others were frozen in their spots.

"Aren't you dead?" one of the students asked Kaya.

The students reportedly did not want Kaya to leave their schools.

Kaya's school visits were part of a campaign to teach elementary students about April 23, National Sovereignty and Children's Day. (hurriyetdailynews)
